It’s nothing new to us of course, but the press is finally catching on about Ian Shaughnessy, writer of Shenanigans.
“An ambitious new representative of the local scene is graphic novelist Ian Shaughnessy of Arlington. Shaughnessy’s books for Oni Press — including an edgy comedy-of-errors called Shenanigans, with Canadian illustrator Mike Holmes — bespeak a childhood fascination with comics, filtered through a lifelong love of language and an interest in taking the words-and-pictures medium to provocative literary levels.” -Fort Worth Business News

All in all, its a really fun book … a good time, and something that should do well with kids. Hopefully someone will be able to get it into their hands. -Indiepulp.com

“Bryan Lee O’Malley is the 29-year-old creator of the Scott Pilgrim books, a popular comic book series that integrates familiar Gen Y tropes (the eponymous Scott is an emotionally underdeveloped slacker who can barely hold down a job) with fantasy elements borrowed from videogames (in order to win over his new girlfriend, Scott must do battle with her seven evil exes). There’s talk of an upcoming movie directed by Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz) and starring Arrested Development’s Michael Cera. O’Malley will be signing at Cosmic Monkey along with his wife, award-winning cartoonist Hope Larson.” -The Mercury

Two more rave reviews for The Damned: Prodigal Sons. ComicsWaitingRoom.com & Comixtreme.com agree; The Damned: Prodigal Sons by Cullen Bunn & Brian Hurtt is even better than the first series!
“Bunn and Hurtt don’t rest easy on their laurels in launching volume two. The story moves forward, but it also moves in a different direction, not content to settle for re-treading over the same old ground.” -ComicsWaitingRoom.com

“It’s been a while since the first series came out, so it’s a little hard to gauge, but my gut reaction tells me that, yes. This is even better than the first phenomenal run.” -Comixetreme.com
